From No U-Turn at Mercy Street: A Memoir and Resource Guide for Grieving Parents:
“April 11, 2009
I did SoulCollage at Maya’s. The process is quite wonderful: choose one image from photos cut out of magazines; then say whatever comes to mind, starting with “I am one who . . . ” Next, choose more images and make a collage; once again voice whatever comes to mind while looking at the collage.
One collage card I made showed tattooed arms and legs, a woman in an agony of grief, a wooden goddess, and a timepiece. My words: I am one in agony. I am one who grieves and one who soothes. I am marked. I am one who has time.”
